Honoring Dr. Misty Rhoads for her role as Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Transformative Touch, and welcoming Veronica Quarry, MS, PT as the Journal’s new Editor-in-Chief

The ZB Touch Foundation Board honors and recognizes Misty Rhoads, PhD, Professor of Public Health at Eastern Illinois University, and ZBHA faculty member, for her enormous contribution to advancing investigation into the power of skilled therapeutic touch.

In 2019 Misty conceived and founded the Journal of Transformative Touch, an open-access, peer-reviewed online journal offering practitioner case reports, along with scientific, educational and personal insights into the role of skilled touch for wellness, healing and personal growth. Now read in nearly 90 countries, the journal bridges clinical practices, education, science, and the arts to aid in creating a strong synergistic field among researchers and practitioners alike.

After serving as Editor-in-Chief for four years, Misty is stepping down to further pursue her research and teaching focusing on the neurobiology of healing through skilled touch, Zero Balancing, contemplative practices, and human wellness and consciousness. The ZB Touch Foundation Board is grateful for Misty’s generous sharing of her skills and knowledge and wish her continued success in her new endeavors.

Veronica Quarry, MS, MSPT, ZBHA faculty member, researcher, clinician, certified Early Intervention Specialist and who has served as a founding member on the Journal’s volunteer editorial board since 2019, will be the Journal’s new Editor-in-Chief, effective immediately. Veronica Quarry uses holistic transformative hands-on modalities to assist infants through adults in preventive care as well as facilitating their healing process.  During her six years as a Research Associate in Cardiology, Tufts University School of Medicine, she published 27 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine. She is trained in myofascial release and lymph drainage therapy, has extensive training in CranioSacral Therapy, is a certified Zero Balancing practitioner and includes ZB Expanded visceral and skullwork in her practice. Veronica and Amanda King are Co-Editors of Experiencing the Power of Zero Balancing: Case Studies of Journeys to Health and Wholeness. “The Journal provides an open forum for the many different touch methods and modalities, from acupressure to CranioSacral Therapy to massage therapy to Trager to Zero Balancing. Here is a place for practitioners, clients and researchers worldwide to share their experiences and findings related to the healing effects of skilled touch.” Veronica notes.
